Caring for an elderly or unwell family member at home is demanding, especially through the night. The Cook Driver Welfare Association places a patient attendant at home in Lahore on a monthly basis, for an 8-hour day or as a 24-hour live-in carer.
What an attendant does
- Help with moving, walking, getting up and personal care.
- Feeding and reminders to take medicines, as the family and the doctor instruct.
- Company and supervision through the day or night.
Attendants are not nurses and do not give medical or nursing treatment. The doctor’s instructions stay with the family; the attendant follows them.
8 hours or 24 hours
Choose 8 hours for help through the day, or 24 hours (live-in) for an attendant who stays with the patient day and night, with rest agreed in advance. The monthly salary for each is shown on this page.
What to tell the team
The request form asks for the patient’s gender and age band and the kind of help needed. Please do not send medical reports or diagnoses on the form; the team will ask what it needs on WhatsApp.
The salary, and the association’s fee
The figure shown on this page is the monthly salary paid by the household to the worker, agreed before the start. It is not the association’s price: the association explains its own placement fee on WhatsApp before anything is agreed.
