Document checklist
The usual documents for a United Kingdom application from Pakistan. Your exact list depends on your visa category and circumstances, the team confirms it with you.
- Valid passport and all previous passports
Older passports show your travel history. A record of trips abroad and returns home on time often helps an application.
- Completed online application and appointment confirmation
The application form must be completed carefully and consistently with every other document in your file. Mistakes here are a common cause of delay.
- CNIC copy
A clear copy of your computerised national identity card confirms your identity and matches the details in your passport and family records.
- NADRA Family Registration Certificate (FRC)
The NADRA Family Registration Certificate shows how family members travelling together are related. It is often requested for spouses, children and family visits.
- Bank statements for the last 6 months
Recent bank statements show that you can pay for the trip and that your finances are stable. Statements are usually stamped by the bank and should match the income you declare.
- Employment letter, business registration or proof of study
A letter from your employer, business registration or student enrolment shows what you do in Pakistan and that you have a reason to return after your trip.
- Income tax returns (FBR) where applicable
Income tax returns filed with the FBR support the income shown in your bank statements and employment documents.
- Invitation letter and the host’s documents (for family visits)
If you are visiting family or friends, an invitation letter and copies of your host’s documents explain the purpose of your visit and where you will stay.
- Travel plan and accommodation details
A flight reservation or travel plan shows your intended dates. Many embassies prefer a reservation rather than a paid ticket until the visa is decided.
- Property documents or other ties to Pakistan (optional, helpful)
Documents showing property, family or business in Pakistan can help show strong reasons to return home after your trip.
Assistance fee and processing
Assistance fee: PKR 8,000 per traveller. Government visa fees, appointment and service-centre charges are separate.
Decision times are set by UK Visas and Immigration and vary by season. Apply well before your travel date.
Common reasons files are delayed
General guidance, not legal advice.
Missing or unclear documents
A missing page, an unstamped bank statement or a blurred copy can stop a file until it is corrected. Check every item on the checklist before you submit.
Information that does not match
Names, dates and figures should be the same in your form, passport, bank statements and letters. Small differences can lead to extra questions.
Funds that are hard to explain
Large deposits shortly before applying, without an explanation, often raise questions. Keep records that show where money came from.
Applying too late
Appointment waiting times and processing can take longer in peak seasons such as summer holidays and before Ramadan. Apply well before your travel date.
Purpose of travel not clear
If the file does not show why you are travelling and why you will return, officers may ask for more. A clear itinerary and supporting letters help.
